Welcome from the Head of School

A warm welcome and thank you for visiting our website. I consider it a privilege to be the Head of School at St Clere’s School and part of the Osborne Co-operative Academy Trust which includes three secondary schools and ten primary schools.

St Clere’s School is a high achieving, oversubscribed school with approx. 1200 students attending from across Thurrock. We are a popular choice for families because our students succeed in many ways and are taught by staff who teach with great energy and expertise in an environment that has exceptional facilities. Our school is set on the edge of Stanford-le-Hope and the substantial school buildings are surrounded by a large expanse of playing fields. We have a stunning range of facilities including a state of the art Drama studio, fully refurbished Science labs, two Sports Pavilions, a 3G floodlit all-weather pitch, well-stocked Library with research facilities and high quality study space. In addition, we have high specification classrooms with up-to-date ICT resources which enhance the teaching for all students and provide a comfortable environment in which to learn.

‘Persequi Optima’ (the pursuit of excellence) is our school motto and our mission is to provide a high quality, comprehensive and meaningful education for all learners. We do this by providing an engaging curriculum in a safe and inspirational environment where high standards and expectations encourage success. We aim to empower our learners so they can apply their acquired skills or knowledge and confidently express themselves throughout their lives and future careers. Our high standards are achieved through effective leadership, outstanding teaching and committed stakeholder engagement from the Trust, Governance and community.

The key pleasure and satisfaction of school leadership is working with young people every day. Young people can be creative, lively and are constantly surprising. It is our job to help shape them into happy, successful adults and responsible citizens in their communities. Our learners are prepared to pursue their own personal excellence and lead productive, responsible lives as contributing members of the global community

Our teachers promote and model creativity and individuality which enthuses and engages our students. We offer all students, regardless of their starting point, the very best chance of academic success. Our curriculum enables our students to develop success in a wide and broad range of subjects.

Beyond the core curriculum, we provide wider experiences and opportunities including a variety of clubs, societies and trips, the Duke of Edinburgh Award; Public Speaking; a range of PE teams and high quality drama productions. These opportunities support our students to follow their own personal interest for both enjoyment and enrichment.

The value we place on students’ personal wellbeing and development ensures our students feel safe, valued and cared for. Our pastoral team work closely with students and families, looking after the whole student and enabling them to truly thrive as individuals. We know that personal well-being goes hand-in-hand with confidence, self-esteem and academic development.

During their time with us students learn to appreciate and develop the character and Co-operative qualities of responsibility, self-help, solidarity, resilience and compassion. They learn the importance of equality, equity and democracy as core values. These values are at the centre of school life and are reflected in the many awards we have received such as Arts Mark Gold, Stonewall School Champion and Co-op Identity Mark.

I hope you enjoy viewing the range of information on our website and please do contact us if you would like to know more.
