Black History Assemblies
Black History Month runs from 1st to 31st October and since 1987 has celebrated the contributions to the history and society of the UK by members of the black communities.
Success Popoola, Evelyn Omodeni, Abieyuwa Igbinoba, Magdalene Gamel and Sienna Bannister researched, created and delivered assemblies to all year groups last week and they were hugely successful.
The assemblies emphasised influential moments and people in Black History, starting with a vocal performance from Success, who soulfully sang 'A change is gonna come' - originally recorded by American Sam Cooke in 1964.
There were readings by famous African American poet, Maya Angelou, and a quiz that awarded participants House points.
Overall, the pupils did incredibly well in celebrating and promoting the Coop values and should be congratulated for their performance.
