St. Clere’s Zip it, Block it, Flag it

GMTV broadcast live from St. Clere’s School on Tuesday, 9th February to launch the new government campaign for internet safety. St. Clere’s were graded ‘outstanding’ for keeping children safe in their recent Ofsted so the new ‘Zip it, Block it, Flag it’ initiative is an important part of the school’s safety drive.

GMTV filmed the Deputy Headteacher, Mrs Hughes to test out the difference between parents and pupils ICT ability in an X Factor style competition. Pupils were faster and more able to access sites on the internet. One worried parent said,  “I had no idea how vulnerable young children are because their skills are so much better than their parents.”

The government campaign to promote web safety for children will become part of the school curriculum nationally by September 2011 yet St. Clere’s are already leading the way for this campaign through their innovative curriculum.
