Joe Sets New English Schools' 80m Hurdles Record

Joseph Harding (9G1) competed in the English Schools' Athletics Championships in Birmingham on Saturday 8th July 2017.  Below is a link to a video of his 80m hurdles final, showing him coming home in Gold medal position by a mile!  In the process he set a new Championship record of 10.48s almost half a second faster than the previous one of 10.75s!

Joseph is also competing in the English Schools' Athletics Association (ESAA) Combined Events National Finals on the weekend of 17/18th September in Devon.

Past ESAA Champions and record holders include

  • Daley Thompson (Olympic Gold Medallist)
  • Dean Macey (World Championships Silver Medallist)
  • Katarina Johnson Thompson

Jessica Ennis was actually only ever 2nd.  Joseph won the East Anglian round of this competition at the end of June, so is hopeful of competing for a medal in September.

Well done, Joseph, good luck for the rest of his season!
